Fall 2024

Jump right into podcasting with this online international program that teaches the artistry, skills, and technology of podcasting.

Learn how to plan, produce and launch your first “radio-ready“ podcast and bring the world the story you want to tell.

"Benjamin facilitates these sessions less like "a classroom" but more like a "community of learners." He introduces you to key elements that make-up a podcast and connects those elements to the individual experiences of those in the session. You're learning by doing, trying, failing, and trying again. All along the way Benjamin and your session-mates are there for support. Informative and fun - with more than a few "light-bulb" moments! You not only come away with the "nuts and bolts" of the craft, but also the mindset to approach the work."

-Naida, University Lecturer, Facilitator & Coach, France

"If I had to describe the Step One program in one word it would be: "invitation." It is an invitation not just to produce a podcast but also to open yourself up, to be curious, and to make your communications more alive. I learned how a podcast can be built from relatively simple components that can be combined so that they support and complete each other until something unique emerges that goes far beyond the components.
”Benjamin has a passion for podcasting and for his students. He creates a space for people to step in and contribute in an atmosphere of honest curiosity that is always friendly and approachable. I truly appreciated his authentic, hands-on, competent way of leading the seminars.”

- Gábor, Systemic Consultant & Leadership Coach, Germany

What makes this course different?

Our Philosophy
Our Focus on Storytelling & Listening

We believe stories can change the world. Telling a story is one of the most powerful acts we can undertake because the stories we share — they shape us as individuals and societies. Stories can connect us together to grow or to shrink. In that way there are both good and bad stories. But most importantly, stories should allow us to learn from each other and to grow.

With new stories we can build a better future. Just as important as the act of telling a new story is the art of listening. That is why we pay a lot of attention to words and language.

We are humanists focused on storytelling and soundcrafting. We embrace technology but we do not revel in it. We use equipment, software and tools as extensions of our natural abilities and we use these tools to serve our muse: the telling of effective and emotive stories.

We take a social, supportive and communication-based approach to learning. Because stories are about sharing and exchange, no story is complete without a listener. So, we learn to make stories together working in pairs and we invite you to join our programs with a partner. Each of you will produce your own podcast with the support and feedback of your podcasting partner or you can co-create one story together. Your partner can be a friend or a work colleague or perhaps someone you would like to share more time with in a creative and productive way. All that said, everyone is welcome to our programs to make the podcast they wish to make. You will find friends and listeners.

This course is not about making money as a podcaster (“monitization”). It's not not about marketing and promotion. It's not about trends and not influencers. This course is about learning the classical fundaments of telling a good story and sharing it with others. The Berlin School of Podcasting will offer other follow-up workshops about the intersection between podcasting and money.
