Jasmin Bauomy is a journalist, narrative audio creator and photographer based in Berlin. She is also the founder of THE ECCO, a sanctuary for creative minds seeking to break free from the everyday grind of the standardized formats within traditional journalism. THE ECCO seeks to be "a platform, a space, a time away from the hustle, where talents from the audio industry can come together to create, collaborate, and inspire one another."

Here Jasmin offers advice on "finding your why" and how to listen deeply to audio to figure out its inner workings. She also explains how you can confidently teach yourself most any audio technology by using the internet as a guide and resource.


"You don't want half your brain thinking about levels."

David Weinberg is an award winning journalist. A former reporter at American Public Media's Marketplace, David's work has been featured on The World, 99% Invisible, Wiretap, Love + Radio and WWOZ. His feature "Meet Mr. Fries Man" was bestowed the Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in reporting and his print work has been published in the New York Times.

From early days (2012) he produced the podcast Random Tape and these days he continues to produce compelling stories while teaching audio storytelling with Transom, including the Transom in Europe Program, hosted by The Berlin School of Podcasting in 2025.

Here David explains the importance of doing a lot of audio work when starting out, identifying and doing what you do well and importance of "invisible" recording equipment.


“Do something else. Do something new.”

Alice Hasters is an award-winning journalist, best-selling author, social critic and podcaster. She is the author of the book Was weiße Menschen nicht über Rassismus hören wollen, aber wissen sollten (What White People Don't Want to Hear about Racism but Should Know Anyway). Alice hosts the podcast Feuer & Brot with her long time friend Maxi Häcke, and from 2020 to 2022, she moderated the podcast Einhundert, broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Nova.

Here in this piece Alice encourages us to overestimate our skills when starting out and prepare well for every episode. She also reminds us of the power of a good story, told in a skillful way.


“Meet yourself through your own voice.”

Podcast wisdom offered by Gohar Sharoyan, podcast teacher at University of Luxembourg: tapping into innate passion, radical listening & finding the storyteller inside of us. So very important and so nicely explained here by Gohar, a former student at The Berlin School of Podcasting.

In just 2 minutes in 45 seconds Yannic explains the central importance of listening, experimentation and becoming a familiar friend with your editing software. He also celebrates the magic of music in podcasting.

I have been connecting with experienced podcasters to ask what mindset, skills and technologies they would concentrate on if they were starting out in the podcasting world. Yannic is a very important person to me because he taught me how to make my first production and I consider him a mentor.
